On day 10 of my european study abroad adventure, something happened. On day ten I reached that point of exhaustion and going, going, going…till I bumped into a window seal that was sticking out. My forehead smacked right into it. For someone with a traumatic brain injury and for any one in general, this is NOT a good thing to do. This showed how tired I was that I wasn’t paying attention. It didn’t help that I had been reading a text message at the same time. I guess that text wasn’t that important anyways. Thankfully I was ok, but my skull hurt. I know my pain level of my head and brain are different and hurt differently. That evening was a big group picnic. I went. But I left early because after sitting through class all day and worrying about my brain, I realized just how tired I was. I went back to the apartments with one of my new Russian friends who was so sweet. When I got to the apartment, I turned on some German television, made some pasta and just chilled on the couch. I went to bed early and thank God woke up the next day. My head felt better but not all the way. I took it easy the next couple of days as I was really exhausted and a traumatic brain injury plus bumping your head is not a good combination. Thankfully a few days later I was back to my energetic self and ready to go. I payed especially more attention when waking around a room. I avoided the windows as much as possible. I am so grateful that it seems like everything is ok, as that was a real scare. Just shows how tired I can get and how I miss something that could be right in front of me. Thank God I am still here!
