History:
While being here I haven’t learned too much history. However I know I walk through the grounds of many battles as well as famous musicians, scientists and artists. In fact the school at which I am studying and taking courses is the same school that Albert Einstein attended. That’s a bit mind blowing when I think of it. The history here seems a bit more real when you see a museum building that has walls or columns that still show signs of bullets. While walking around and seeing a memorial for those murdered in the holocaust and there is lots of Hebrew. At one I saw these two tablets that looked like Ten Commandment but with much more writing. Its not uncommon to see graffiti everywhere and apparently they don’t care too much although some is very political or historical according to some people. History happened but it seems that Germany is really recognizing of the incidents that occurred here not too long ago. It seems mind blowing to me that the Berlin Wall was only taken down around 25 years ago. Many young people who live here have stories that their parents share with them since to them they still recall it rather easy. History doesn’t always happen so far away and I feel like sometimes it is easier to forget. In America it seems people would rather be ignorant about certain things and just have a BBQ and drink some beer on their special national holiday off.
